Switch to an external WiFi dongle rather than using internal card (Intel MacBookPro16,3)

Are there any ways that this app can be forced to use an external WiFi adapter rather than the internal MacBook Pro one? Trying to deauthenticate through the built-in WiFi card does not work, so I'm trying to use a cheap USB dongle. I've tried setting network priority through MacOS, which has no effect. Has anyone else had luck trying to do this?
