PyCon Development Sprints

Hello and thank you for taking a look at this project! CivicPatch is a project aimed at scraping municipal websites in order to create a directory of elected officials and their contact information. If any of the instructions/documentation don't work, let me know and I'll get that updated ASAP.

This project is a work in progress. We have a set of planned tickets in our tasks spreadsheet.. If you would like to work on those, pick an issue and assign yourself. (If you do not have the permissions to do so, please ping Michelle/Kas or ping the Unified Channel).

Reviews

We welcome usage of Claude Code (and other LLMs, if you are using any) to complete tasks. But review times could take longer depending on the size of your PR, so smaller (as it makes sense to do so) PRs are more likely to make it in to the code base faster.

Onboarding

Steps:

1. Ping the Unified Channel (PyCon 2026) indicating you would like to pick up a task. Indicate the specific task or a project, if you're not sure.
2. (Optional) If you pick the CivicPatch project, you will be added to the CivicPatch organization to the "default" and "contributors" team. Log out of civicpatch.lorg/log in to confirm.
3. You should also be added to the "Contributors" list below once a maintainer adds you.
