Limited space for one repository

Space is in principle not limited but a 5 GB repo is considered as not done and could lead to warnings.
For the moment we are already at 1,5 GB

The problem is the storage of PDF's like the yearbooks.
There is a possibility to disperse this over multiple repos we could make a photos repo and a yearbooks repo where we then link the relative url with githubpages like we did for the meta data.

Another options is, where possible, remove the year book PDFs files from intermagnet,github.io and simply provide links to the yearbooks on the originating institute's web sites.

This is indeed a possible solution and will free up the necessary space

The BGS team maintaining the World Data Centre are in the process of copying all of the observatory yearbooks from INTERMAGNET to the WDC. Once that has been completed, they will add an end-point to the WDC webservice, at which point we will be able to link to the yearbooks from the INTERMAGNET web site.

That seems like a good solution and should free-up about 500 Mb from the repository. Many thanks to the BGS WDC team
