what is Trakt API good for?

My profil is hidden, I setup Trakt API but it fails to import.
What is the Trakt API good for if not for importing hidden profiles?

Also it is strange that I could import some random dudes trakt history because I wrote a wrong name and it succeded, because his account is public...

The trakt api can be used to import hidden profiles but it needs oauth integration setup. It's too much work for me to implement, so I have used public trakt profiles as a workaround.
