Live2D, TTS, and Expressions not working on Arch Linux (Flatpak)

Hello,

I am using CachyOS with Hyprland (an Arch Linux base) and installed the latest version of NyarchAssistant from Flathub. I am having issues with some of the core features and I'm hoping to find out if there's a dependency I'm missing or if this is a bug.

I'm not an expert with Linux, so I've been working with an AI assistant to perform some basic troubleshooting and help write this report.

• The LivePNG avatar feature **works** correctly.
  

• The Live2D avatar, Text-to-Speech (TTS), and avatar expressions **do not work** at all.
  

Clicking the small status dot on the left of the message box reveals the following D-Bus error: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name is not activatable (2)

Based on the error, ai suspected a Flatpak permissions issue and I tried the following:

• Resetting the app's permissions in Flatseal had no effect.
  

• Granting full D-Bus Session Bus access (*) causes the entire application to crash on startup.
  

Is there a specific dependency or setup step I need to perform on an Arch-based system? Or is this a bug in the Flatpak manifest?

I tried running it with flatpak run and TTS actually worked thank you. But live2d still doesnt work unfortunately. The logs in the terminal shows there is a problem with javascript.

Try removing the ~/.var/app/moe.nyarchlinux.assistant folder. This will reset Nyarch Assistant.
If you want yo backup you can just move the folder

Error is gone in latest commit as of 1759451172 but the problem still remains.Live2d is broken.

Try with the new version, also remember to update all your flatpaks (sometimes runtimes might not be up to date with drivers causing the live2d display to bug)

In version 1.1.0, with all flatpaks updated with flatpak update no difference in Live2D mode.
In VRM Avatar mode it looks like that. It might have something to do with GTK app in KDE.

Well as it turns out. I did a fresh install of arch in a Gnome Box using Cosmic. And I, too, was unable to reproduce my own issue.

Edit: Did the same with KDE, and there also no dice on reproducing that error.

Edit2: On my main install, I tried to reinstall Flatpak completely. Unsinstall Cosmic to have only 1 DE. Removed HDR. Changed the resolution to 1920x1080p. It did not solve the issue.

I don't know how to solve that issue. I also don't see what can go wrong. I don't understand Flatpak enough to understand what on my system can influence the Flatpak software.

I tried a fresh install on my computer. With CosmicOS. And there once again the issue was there.

Since I'm sick I spent a bit too much side on that issue. I tried the following:

• (Real Machine) Old install of Arch Linux with KDE Plasma using archinstall script and all of my favorite packages and much more with only AMD opensource drivers; (No Live2D Avatar)
• (Real Machine) Fresh install of Arch Linux with Cosmic Desktop using the archinstall script installing all my favorite packages out of the box, with only AMD opensource drivers; (No Live2D Avatar)
• (Real Machine) Fresh install of Arch Linux with Cosmic Desktop using the archinstall script without installing any optional packages, with all opensource drivers; (No Live2D Avatar)
• (Virtual Machine) Fresh install of Arch Linux with Cosmic Desktop using the archinstall script without any optional packages, with all opensource drivers; (Live2D Avatar working)
• (Virtual Machine) Fresh install of Arch Linux with KDE Plasma using the archinstall script without any optional packages, with all opensource drivers; (Live2D Avatar working)
• (Real Machine) Live USB of Nyarch Linux. (Live2D Avatar working)
• (Virtual Machine) Fresh install of Arch Linux with Cosmic Desktop using the archinstall script without any optional packages, with only AMD opensource drivers; (No Display wrong drivers)

From this testing:

• The Desktop Environment is unlikely to be the culprit;
• It is not my Display resolution or anything, or the live USB would have had the issue too.

My guess is that the Live USB of Nyarch Linux use older AMD driver version and a newer version is likely to be the cause of this issue. This would be the reason why it is neither an issue on the Live USB of Nyarch, nor on the virtual machines (not using AMD drivers).

On my laptop with AMD integrated GPU there is no issue with updated drivers. It's very likely to be a specific bug I can't fix, maybe within Flatpak or amd
