Hey everyone,

I've had a few people ask if this project is still going. It's been pretty rough.

Here's something I said in March (Pokemon-PythonRed/Pokemon-PythonRed#148):

This was the first GitHub project I ever started, and was meant as a way for me to simultaneously learn Git, GitHub, and Python in the context of something I’m passionate about, being Pokémon (side note, I was also 13 at the time). Even if I don’t have an end goal, I want to do my best to manage this project properly, if only to give our community what they deserve.

I don't feel motivated to work on this anymore.

My original idea was to create an original RPG story using the existing characters of the Pokemon universe, like a fangame but more involved (like coding all the game mechanics from scratch). I don't know why. I was learning Python, and maybe I was too ambitious.

I could finish this game. But I think my time is better spent on other things. Maybe someday I'll reuse the ideas this project gave me, and make a fully original RPG.

I don't see why I should keep telling people I'll come back to PPR. I don't think I want to anymore. But at the same time, I don't want to leave because of the people who contributed to this project. I feel like their efforts would be wasted if PPR were to be discontinued.

• @nasserkessas helped with backend data storage (both static and dynamic), like trainer data and save files
• @Ravanger101 made an awesome website (https://pokemon-pythonred.github.io/)
• @Valensce helped manage the community aspect, something I'm not good at (most notably attracting attention through the various community Discord servers, most of which don't exist anymore for reasons unrelated to this announcement)

(sorry if I forgot something, it's honestly been a while)

I'll never forget how excited I was when PPR started drawing attention. I learned Python and Git all at once, and made friends along the way (even though this project's kinda dead lol).

But I think I'm gonna move on from this for good. Feel free to use this code if you want.
