Update the LLM rules so prompts will be more effective?

I'm using Cursor (after the struggle to get PlatformIO installed), but after several hours of fighting with "Auto" and Claude Sonnet 4 prompts, I still can't get even the simplest "Hi!" card in the portal for me to even try displaying it on the DeskHog.

I suggest improving the Cursor rules or other LLM rules so prompts will produce changes that actually work.

I would contribute code to make it work if I could, but I still can't get any success on my own side, and I don't know C++, so I can't be of much code help here.

One thing I’d try: ditch Cursor for Claude Code. I gave up using Cursor for C++ months ago: too many bad outputs and code that wouldn’t compile.

Try using Claude Code and feeding it tech-details.md, see if that gets you any further (that file is also a great read for humans!)

I'm already paying for Cursor and using Claude inside it. I'm not switching to yet another tool.

But maybe there's something else wrong here because I tried simply modifying the source from "Hello, world" to "Hi, world" in both places, rebuilt, re-uploaded, and the changes still weren't reflected in the dashboard.

So maybe I've got something wrong with my environment or PlatformIO, even though it's clearly building and uploading successfully (even rebooting the device) but without actually making the changes.

That was my problem! Now I'm able to deploy things successfully with Cursor (with iterations, of course).

One last question before I close this. Is it normal to have to unplug the DeskHog after uploading to it?

Excellent! That gotcha is very annoying, I’m looking forward to tracking down a way to prevent it.

In my usage, it reboots itself after upload and I just leave it plugged in. What behavior are you seeing?

Since erasing and re-uploading, it now turns off the screen after I upload new software and it stays off until I unplug it. Then it boots up and connects. Pressing the right buttons doesn't wake it, but the left button does. And that is after

This is with just "Upload." But I found if I do "Upload and Monitor," it does reboot with the new version.
