This is good feedback. I will create a bug for updating ImportBuddy to clarify these terms. I am not sure about renaming release to edition. I'll have to look around to see what terms are used on other sites etc |

"Year" and "Release date" can be confusing, as it's not clear as to what they're referring to.
"Year" I believe is the year in which the movie premiered or the show first aired
"Release date" is more like the date this specific release was published, so I'd recommend it be called "Publication date"
Also, "Release" can have too many meanings that can muddy the water. My recommendation would be to call it "edition" (Plus "When was this edition published?" sounds better than "When was this release released?")
I'm not proposing to change the code necessarily, just how it's displayed to users. So like, in import buddy, the prompt displayed could be different (or at the very least look something like
