What happened?

this behavoir has already been mentioned and claimed to be closed defect (fixed) as #22044 in VB tickets. mod Klaus Espenlaub stated the "information in the user guide" leads to successfull installation/upgrade of VB.
i have not been able to upgrade VB in a custom location on local harddrive "d:\Programme\Oracle\VirtualBox" since 2023. installer error: "chosen installation directory is invalid".
the current information in user manual did not change that. i run the icacls commands in cmd. common error "Access is denied."

How can we reproduce this?

try to upgrade v. 7.0.10 with the current installer VirtualBox-7.2.6a-172322-Win.exe. dont know what other files to upload here.
