Radxa Zero 3W - repeat reboots - ver 0.12 and buildroot latest 3f1f50c

Thank you for sharing your hard work and this wonderful project.. I have been using aa-proxy-rs in Pi4 as well as pi02w. Pi4 with 5ghz connection is quite stable with almost no disconnects. i have kept pi02w aside as it indeed does frequent disconnects possibly due to 2.4ghz congestion etc

Recently i have bought Radxa zero 3w to predominantly take advantage of its 5ghz wifi capability and flashed release 0.12 and as well as the buildroot latest version.

my setup : tata tigor Headunit, oneplus 12 running android 15, radxa zero 3w, aa-proxy-rs version 0.12 or the latest buildroot build

Issue : When powered up through usb C otg port to my car HU, all goes well and it connects within 10-15 secs and am able to open android auto interface on Car HU and initiate nagivation thru gmaps.

The connection between HU and myphone gets disconnected after say a minute or two and it tries to establish connection and connects again. This loop repeats.

I have collected logs and routed logs to write on sd card so they are for the entire session. kindly advise if anything i can do to get this working.

The same cable set works flawless for pi4 if that helps debug, so i keep both the devices to switch when needed.

I reviewed the logs... it seems you have a power issue with the radxa, because the logs are cut in various places and it is rebooted. You can try the "Y" split cable. Radxa needs a good power supply or PD for working properly.
I also seen a lot of USB communication errors... you can also try to disable the legacy mode.

Ok... some more tests done and here is the summary... issue remains same for radxa3w post this as well, logs attached.

What did I do:

1. supplied power separately from a brick that can deliver 5V, >6A current (this is thru 12v socket that takes power from car battery)
2. Separate cable to connect Car USB port (for D+, D-) to Radxa OTG usb port
3. Compiled a fresh build with latest code base using buildroot for radx3a, rpi02w
4. Enabled quick reconnect (experimental feature)
5. Enabled Debug mode
6. It connects as expected, android auto starts on Car head unit and it restarts after a while and the loop continues.
7. Switched to rpi02w with same build and it seemed to be working well (not more than 2-3 connect/disconnects during 1.5hr city traffic drive)
8. Doesn't seem to be a power issue for radxazero to me but i may be wrong

Logs attached, renamed file to indicate rpi02w logs , kindly let me know if this indicate anything i can do to further test..

Yeah, you're right. I don't see a hardware reboots in your radxa log anymore, while I see this in pizero log! Your HU is probably very sensitive (or it is disconnecting power when there are problems...).

Please experimentally try this in radxa (put in /etc/hostapd.conf.in):

That was a quick response :)..

I added these changes to /etc/hostapd.conf.in but after that it stopped showing wifi aa-proxy ssid.. did i do what you asked correctly?

Looks OK! you added this into /etc/hostapd.conf.in ?

yes, this is the stuff currently in that file in /etc/hostapd.conf.in

I assume you did this on radxa, and you don't see an aa-proxy ssid?

This is weird. In this case, please revert original contents to:
https://github.com/aa-proxy/buildroot/blob/main/external/rootfs_overlay/etc/hostapd.conf.in
and see if it's back OK

Can you isolate which line(s) makes the problem?
The config I sent you should work much better on radxa and milkv regarding wifi connection... I it not yet upstreamed so that's why I ask you here for help if you don't mind :)
