The current size of this gap is defined by the customization shown below:

The second issue in this same context is the support for removing the (very large) word Help (tagged with #2 on image1). I already am hiding the site title and tagline (see below)

so, this string Help is actually the page title:

The problem here is that setting this title to "empty", it creates this ugliness below:
The problem is obvious - there is no support for Iframes (in my case, I had to use MKDocs running in a different site, as the support for managing markdown documents in WordPress is far from good enough.
