Line breaks don't work

I can't insert a line break "\\" inside a formula — it's treated as an error:

А - D = \\ 3121321

However, in other libraries, the formula displays without errors and with a line break:

Are there any restrictions on line wrapping, and is there a way to programmatically check whether line wrapping is currently possible? Or is this a bug?
