Short Description

The app login fails despite the website redirection

Steps to Reproduce

1. Start the deezer app
2. The login screen appears.
3. Click on Log in.
4. The login web page opens in the browser
5. On the opened web page, click "Open Deezer Music"
6. The deezer app "blink" but stays on the login page

Observed Behavior

No matter if I log out or if I reboot, the problems is persistent.
It worked fine yesterday, with the same app version.
Running the app in command line do not provide more information

Expected Behavior

I should be able to login successfully once I've logged in in the web browser.

I am unable to reproduce this on Ubuntu 25.04 w/ Ubuntu wayland session.

As a workaround, right click and copy the callback link (should be deezer://autolog-<private>

Then, log in manually: deezer-desktop "deezer://autolog..."

I have the exact same problem even when passing the callback url manually:

$ deezer-desktop "deezer://autolog/<private id>"
12:15:50.171 › Init App

The app "blinks" for a few millisecond then comes back to the login screen

I cannot reproduce those errors on

• Ubuntu 24.04 (VM) w/ Ubuntu (Wayland) session
• Ubuntu 24.04 (VM) w/ Ubuntu Xorg session
• Ubuntu 24.04 (VM) w/ Gnome (Wayland) session
• Ubuntu 24.04 (VM) w/ Gnome Xorg session

I faced a minor issue on Gnome, where the app icon wouldn't render properly. I had to do this:

sudo nano /usr/share/applications/deezer-desktop.desktop
# Edit wmclass from "deezer-desktop" to "Deezer"
sudo update-desktop-database

I just tested with snap and flatpak and it's working fine.
I'll stick with snap for the moment.

I too cannot login through the flatpak application as described by the initial post. I attempted to run flatpak run dev.aunetx.deezer "deezer://autolog/abcdefg..." but that doesn't seem to work.

Only the appimage seems to accept the deezer url as parameter. Should I create a new issue for it as I'm on a different system or post my system informations here?

When Deezer logs me out, I get the login link and run xdg-open deezer://autlog/....
You could maybe try this, xdg-open uses the default app per file type/protocol, which in this case is deezer.

Edit: I run the flatpak version (on fedora 43) and don't have this issue

This results in the following error:

with that test gibberish as url, I expected at least the deezer client to be opened and then give me an invalid-url error. So my guess now is that the application isn't even registered properly? Hmm...

I'm running CachyOS on my machine with KDE/Wayland as Desktop Environment.

Try adding quotes:

xdg-open "deezer://autolog..."

Otherwise it means deezer:// scheme handler is not registered correctly.

My bad-

Adding the quotes does seem to work and the client logged into my Deezer account, so that workaround works!

In my case it doesn't work. I tried multiple times:

• The first time, the app crashed and I got the Ubuntu bug report pop-up (I sent the report in case it helps)
• On subsequent attempts it behaved exactly like before: stuck on the login page.

I am still unable to reproduce your issue and I have no idea how to resolve or debug it. I'm truly sorry

You can try to use the archive (tar.gz) version if it is a packaging issue
