Create chores as non ha admin

Hello,

The new updates look awesome.

My wife only uses HA frontend dashboards that i create and isn't a HA admin so has no access to the integration menus.

Is there ability to have chore setup from a front end dashboard?

She can go into OpsCenter and do the date management, but creation is not possible from the UI today. All the services are there to make it possible as you can see if you look at the service to create a chore. The technical challenge is that the only way to get data into the chore, like name, is to create helper entities or maybe via a custom card.

So backend work is ready to support, but I haven't figured out a clean front end approach. Open to suggestions.

I was thinking about this one.

Can create a generic input text helper and then combine with a custom card that exposes all the chores creation options.

Once you submit the create chore, the input text helper can be passed on to the service as a variable.

You are spot on with the general concept, but the rabbit hole goes a bit deeper than just the chore name!

To build a fully functional creation UI using standard HA helpers, we wouldn't just need one text input; we'd need helpers for every configuration field (recurrence, ticket values, assigned users, due times, etc.). Even if we narrowed it down to just the most common settings, it quickly turns into a massive, hacky web of helper entities.

Plus, there is a concurrency issue: if two people try to create a chore from their phones at the exact same time, they would be overwriting the exact same global helper entities (unless we created a dedicated set of helpers for every single user in the house, which would be a nightmare to manage).

The Ideal Solution:
To do this correctly and cleanly, it really needs to be a fully custom Lovelace card (built with JS/HTML) that manages its own temporary state in the browser, and then pushes the final payload directly to the ChoreOps backend via a single service call—completely bypassing the need for HA helpers.

I absolutely want to bring chore creation to the dashboard eventually because it is a huge quality-of-life feature. However, having just pushed the 1.0.0 release out the door, my primary focus right now is stability, and catching up on all the real-life family and household things I've been putting on hold for the last few months!

We can keep this discussion open as a feature request on the roadmap. The backend services are fully ready to accept the data, so if any frontend wizards in the community want to take a crack at building a custom card in the meantime, the foundation is waiting for them!
