Should we use tau = 1/frequency or tau = 1/(2*pi*frequency)?

In pyDRTtools, tau = 1/frequency is used, while in some literature, tau = 1/(2*$\pi$*frequency) is used, for instance, in the article The timescale identification decoupling complicated kinetic processes in lithium batteries: 10.1016/j.joule.2022.05.005 (Page 2).
How do we choose between these two calculations?
