Lately, balancing my professional duties with my health has been quite challenging. I have been suffering from patellar and Achilles tendinitis, which has not only taken a toll on my emotional well-being but also made my daily commute physically exhausting. Consequently, my workout routine has been reduced to a mere once-a-week session, raising concerns about potential muscle atrophy.
Despite these physical setbacks, I remain committed to juggling my work and my coursework. Today, my academic focus was on the concept of 'Transactions' in Database Systems. While I was already well-versed in the ACID properties, delving into the theoretical dimensions of concurrency control, alongside serial and concurrent schedules, proved to be somewhat intricate. Nevertheless, I remind myself that these are not entirely unfamiliar concepts. In fact, they are principles I have actively utilized in my practical development work, so I should not let them intimidate me. Moving forward, my goal is to thoroughly memorize the distinctions between recoverable and non-recoverable schedules, as well as cascading and cascadeless schedules.
