Provide a direct way to start a timer using only the mouse #123

I found myself trying to start a timer by double-clicking on a project entry in the project tree. Obviously that did not work but goes to edit mode of that entry.

But it could be a good idea to have such a direct way to start a timer with the mouse in one action. Currently, all ways to start the timer are two actions, whether "Project -> Start Timer" from the menu or "Start Timer" from the context menu.

Ideas for what direct mouse action could start a timer:

  • double click on a project entry (editing the project would then only be accessible via menu or context menu, which seems acceptable as it's an action with much less frequency than starting a timer)
  • clicking on a small "Start Timer" button shown in a column of the project tree, next to where the red dot indicator for a running timer shows up; these buttons would have to be always present to be able to start a timer that replaces a currently running timer; and that could make them visually distracting
  • middle mouse click on a project entry
  • double right-click on a project entry (but I have not seen a double right-click anywhere so far ...)
