What were you trying to do?

1. Use exports.simplepassive:setOverride(id, activation)
2. using /passiveoverrides

What were you expecting to happen?

1)When setting activation to 1, everything works great
When setting it to 0, everything seems to work except alpha. It does not change back to 255

2. the for loop. Shouldnt it be Overrides instead of Activations, since we are setting overrides, not activations? I changed this and it was correct

What actually happened?

The only way I was able to fix this was changing shouldDisableCollisions to be false if 0
Note, LUA has only 2 values that equal false: nil and false
everything else will result in a true statement when used in an IF as you did below.
I will probably change everything dealing with 0/1 to false/true to make sure there is no other issues.
