Not able to use $_ psitem variable in snippet

When adding a snippet the $_ variable is not stored as it is evaluated in the snippet string and contains no value.

That is expected because of PowerShell scoping. Can you provide an example of what you are trying to accomplish? That way I can see if it would be possible.

Just trying to store any useful script as a snippet. The idea of psnotes seems like a really useful tool for being able to export the config and then import to another server, this way all handy scripts are available.

I did realise after posting this that what i need is entirely possible, you just need to enter in the snippet using single quotes so powershell does not evaluate the variables and treats as a literal string.

this is an example of a snippet i was saving:

new-psnote -Name "Get-ExpiredCertificates" -Catalog "Certs" -Alias Get-ExpiredCertificates -Snippet 'Get-ChildItem cert:\ -Recurse | Where-Object {$_ -is [System.Security.Cryptography.X509Certificates.X509Certificate2] -and $_.NotAfter -lt (Get-Date)} | Select-Object -Property FriendlyName,NotAfter'
