Apple Terminal renders some emojis without space after them

This is how it looks if I copy the text:

And this is how it looks when I take a screenshot:

In Ghostty everything looks fine, so this is probably a deficiency of apple terminal. I wonder if adding a second space after the emojis would fix that?

Same problem in Zed's builtin Terminal.

I think this is simply a difference in how these terminal emulators have decided to render this grapheme cluster:

⬇️ is a grapheme made of:

• U+2B07 (down arrow)
• U+FE0F (emoji variation selector)

I suspect that these terminals do not correctly resize the fonts they use to ensure that they are all rendered equally wide - if that is the case, does another space in the output 'fix' the issue?
