Steps to reproduce

1. Set a default reminder in your personal Calendar settings (e.g., 15 minutes).
2. Another user invites you to an event.
3. You accept the invitation, and like many people (who accept “quickly” because they have a lot to do), you do it without worrying about the reminder and foolishly thinking that the default reminder setting will do the job. In fact, it doesn't...
4. You miss the appointment or arrive late.

Expected behavior

I discussed this issue with a colleague this morning, who told me that most popular proprietary solutions already do what I am asking for.

The default reminder setting should not only apply to events that you create.

Telling me:

• that it's up to the user to remember to configure the reminder manually is not a solution; things need to be seamless.
• that you suggest adding the reminder setting in the simple view is not a solution because all my tests are done with the full view... which didn't stop me from missing lots of appointments.

Actual behavior

No reminders are set up for events to which I am invited.

Thank for posting your suggestion. At the moment the default reminders are only set on calendar event creation. For your suggestion we would need to modify the back end (caldav) to modify the event. Its doable but would require some effort.

For issue tracking: this looks like a duplicate of the older #6315, which already has the "1. to develop" label and an associated pull request in nextcloud/server#48226 (currently milestoned for Nextcloud 34).

Consolidating discussion to #6315 might help avoid fragmentation.
