This is a fantastic project, that seems like it could have huge potential, Europe or Worldwide.

If this is using open datasets and if the data is there, what would need to be done, to expand this outside of Germany?

Thanks for your nice remarks @kierank01. We are already planning to include other countries. Hot candidates are Netherlands, Switzerland, and Poland. But there are several things to do first: We not only need data of buildings, but also the topography, maps, and solar irradiance.
PRs like #347 are the base work to expand openpv to other countries.
