Comparisons to AG-UI?

I've been tracking the evolution of UIs for interacting with agent systems and I'm excited to see this one pop up.

One of them I have been tracking is https://docs.copilotkit.ai/ag-ui-protocol. I'm wondering how ACP compares? Do they have similar use cases or do they differ?

It would be great to have 1 protocol for connecting a UI to an agent just like we have MCP for connecting context/tools/prompts and A2A for connecting agents.

Unless I am wrong, it seems like AG-UI seems focused a bit more on web applications (though I could be conflating it with copilotkit).
At the moment, ACP is also pretty focused on coding agents, though hopefully we aren't doing anything that will make it difficult to expand to other use cases in the future.

AG-UI is a lightweight, event-based protocol that standardizes how AI agents connect to user-facing applications.

Seems to me like they are coming at it from the web UI standpoint and y'all are starting ACP as a UI for coding agents/code editors.

Totally understand that you need a starting point and sounds like y'all are considering alternate use cases for the future so maybe there is a time when these merge or overlap. 🤞
