<p>Renewed Article 50 hopes were keeping the GBP EUR exchange rate 0.3% higher in the region of 1.1783.</p>
<p>A run of better-than-expected PMIs for the Eurozone has failed to support the Euro, while the Pound is riding higher after government borrowing figures revealed the largest January surplus for 17 years.</p>
<p>The euro-to-pound was down around a steady -0.4% throughout Monday's trade on renewed Article 50 hopes.</p>
<p>However, if the UK House of Lords does not make any amendments to the conditions of Article 50's activation this week as some have speculated, sterling could lose some of its Monday gains against the Euro.</p>
<p>A weaker-than-expected Finnish inflation rate weighed on the euro on Monday morning, leaving the pairing on a downtrend around 0.8518.</p>
<p>Although the latest UK house price data proved discouraging this was not enough to boost the bearish EUR GBP exchange rate, with worries over Greece still dominating the outlook of the Eurozone.</p>
<p>Last week's trade saw the <a href="#"><b>EUR GBP exchange</b></a> rate make choppy gains, with concerns over the Greek bailout failing to trump a dovish outlook for UK consumer spending.</p>
<p>The Euro even managed to shake off negativity following a series of below-forecast results from the latest GDP figures - the fact that growth still remained fairly steady helped keep sentiment positive.</p>
<p>The Pound slumped after inflation, wage growth and retail sales figures all disappointed, painting a dovish outlook on consumer spending and therefore UK economic growth in the coming quarters.</p>

<p>There are lots of data releases due for the UK in the coming five days that could create notable turbulence in the EUR/GBP exchange rate.</p>
<p>Although considered low-impact, the latest CBI trends orders and selling prices data could further worsen the outlook for consumer spending if it shows a large rise in prices.</p>
<p>Tuesday's public sector borrowing figures could dampen the outlook for the UK current account as Brexit officially approaches, or improve sentiment if the trade deficits lighten further.</p>
<p>Wednesday will see the second estimates for 2016 Q4 GDP released; investors have already been surprised once by an upside revision so it is unlikely further changes will be made.</p>
<h2>Greek Crisis to Continue Weighing on Euro?</h2>
<p>It is unlikely one of the biggest drags on <a href="#"><b>EUR/GBP exchange rates</b></a> from last week will have entirely dissipated, although the Euro could receive a boost if a solution is finally found to the latest Greek debt crisis.</p>
<p>Athens and its creditors are still locked in debate over the need to legislate further austerity measures, with a provisional deadline for reaching an agreement fast approaching.</p>
<p>Should the deadline be missed, it is likely the next tranche of bailout funding for Greece could be delayed - a serious concern given the stricken Hellenic nation desperately needs to make payments to its creditors in the summer.</p>
