Link between note and file - delete files when notes are deleted

Im new to SN. As far as I can see, images added to notes are uploaded to the file area and linked. But the file doesn't know which note it is used in, correct? If I delete a note, the images remain, and I can't check whether they are still needed or not? I would even prefer not to see them as files at all, but rather attached to the document and retained as long as the note or a version with the file exists. If this is deleted, the file is also removed.
