WHY you should care
Three new API features just shipped that change how you build agents with Claude:
- 🔍 Tool Search Tool — agents can now discover tools on-demand instead of loading all definitions upfront (was 55K-134K tokens of overhead)
- 💻 Programmatic Tool Calling — Claude can invoke tools via code execution, reducing context bloat from intermediate results
- 📚 Tool Use Examples — universal standard for showing Claude how to use a tool, not just what's structurally valid
Also: MCP Authorization Interest Group formally chartered with Okta (Aaron Parecki), Amazon, and Anthropic co-facilitating. OAuth 2.1-based auth for MCP is getting serious attention.
Plus a large batch of new Terraform beta API endpoints (agents, environments, memory stores, sessions, vaults...).
