SecuScan needs a production-grade improvement in this area: Customizable reporting..

Scope

Allow report templates for executive, technical, and compliance outputs with shared data contracts and preview support.

Acceptance Criteria

• The implementation is focused and does not introduce unrelated UI, docs, lockfile, or formatting churn.
• Security-sensitive behavior has explicit negative tests where applicable.
• Existing tests continue to pass, and new tests cover the main success and failure paths.
• Documentation or configuration examples are updated when operator behavior changes.

Verification

Tests should cover template selection, missing fields, safe rendering, and export output consistency.

Difficulty

Hard, useful issue intended for experienced contributors.

I can design a clean, shared data contract (JSON schema) that seamlessly handles the executive, technical, and compliance variations. I will ensure the backend streams the data reliably and build a robust, modular React preview layer on the frontend with strict negative test coverage for missing or invalid template fields.

I reviewed the current reporting/export flow and the related backend/frontend structure for report generation. I’d like to work on this issue under GSSoC’26.

My planned implementation approach is to keep the feature modular and production-focused by introducing:

• a shared normalized report data contract
• template-based rendering for executive, technical, and compliance reports
• preview-ready template responses
• safe rendering and validation handling for missing/invalid fields
• focused backend/frontend tests for template selection and export consistency

I’ll keep the PR scoped to the reporting system only and avoid unrelated UI, formatting, or lockfile churn.
