Adpage Query Converter Variable Description

The Adpage Query Converter is a custom Google Tag Manager (sGTM) variable template designed to handle URL parameter remapping and restoration. This variable transforms backup or alternative URL parameters back into their standard format, specifically addressing browser privacy restrictions that may strip certain tracking parameters. Key functionality:

Maps custom parameter names to standard tracking parameter names (e.g., backup_gclid → gclid) Reconstructs the complete URL with restored parameter names while preserving original values Ensures tracking systems receive parameters in their expected format, even when browsers modify or remove original parameters Maintains conversion tracking accuracy by providing a workaround for parameter filtering by privacy-focused browsers

Primary use case: Circumventing Safari's automatic removal of tracking parameters by creating backup parameters that can be seamlessly converted back to their original names, ensuring uninterrupted conversion tracking and attribution analysis. This template is particularly valuable for maintaining Google Ads conversion tracking integrity when standard GCLID parameters are stripped by browser privacy features.

About

A Google Tag Manager variable template that remaps URL query parameters for tracking and analytics. Includes Safari gbraid/wbraid compatibility fix by converting obfuscated parameter names (G_B_R_A_I_D → gbraid) back to their original values. Easily configure custom parameter mappings through GTM's interface
