Installation

This page contains instructions for installing the OpenMIMS plugin in either Fiji (recommended) or ImageJ. However, we strongly recommend using Fiji.

Fiji Installation Instructions

MacOS, Windows, and Linux:

1. If Fiji is not already installed, download from [https://imagej.net/Fiji/Downloads] Otherwise, skip to step 3
2. Follow installation instructions for your system
3. Start Fiji (on Linux or Windows, look inside the Fiji.app folder and run ImageJ-<systemtype>)
4. Fiji will probably ask to update; let it run, and restart if prompted
5. Reopen Fiji, choose Update Fiji from the Help menu
6. In the Update window, click 'Manage update sites'
7. Scroll down to the OpenMIMS entry and click on the checkbox next to it, then click on the “Close” button. You show see a list of the jar files that comprise OpenMIMS. Click on the “Apply changes” button, followed by the Apply Changes button
8. When it finishes installing the various OpenMIMS components, restart Fiji, which will now have “Open MIMS Image” on the list of Plugins.

ImageJ Installation Instructions

We no longer provide plain jar files to install in ImageJ. Please install Fiji.
