you eat it. you log it. you question your life choices.
No account, no cloud, no sync, no drama — just a fast, privacy-first meal log for tracking calories, meals, and daily intake offline.
SnackTax is a stupid-simple, local-first calorie tracker that lives entirely in a single HTML file.
No installs. No accounts. No cloud. No “AI-powered insights”.
Just open the file and start logging what you ate.
Because most calorie trackers:
- want your email
- want your data
- want a subscription
- want to tell you you're doing great
SnackTax wants none of that.
It just quietly keeps score.
- single HTML file (yes, really)
- works completely offline
- zero dependencies
- instant load (it’s literally just a file)
- local storage only (your data stays with you)
- minimal UI, no clutter
- brutally honest logging experience
- you can save meals which can be reused
- streaks (based on calorie limit and daily protien goal)
- logs everything from time to macros (currently Calories, Protiens, Fats, Fibers, Carbs, Water intake)
- single click to export all your data so that you can back it up if you need to
- download
index.html - open it in your browser
- start logging snacks like a responsible adult (or not)
that’s it. no setup. no build step. no nonsense.
- if it needs a backend, it's already too much
- if it needs login, it's definitely too much
- if it needs a tutorial, something went wrong
SnackTax is designed to be:
open → type → done
your data:
- is stored locally in your browser
- never leaves your device
- is not tracked, synced, or analyzed
if you lose it, it's gone.
this is the price of freedom.
- no sync across devices (ahm...maybe later?)
- no fancy analytics (You don't need more analytics than this to follow a diet)
- no reminders to stop eating (we are instead using human in-built notification system known as 'Guilt')
it will not fix your diet.
it will just document it.
GPL v3
if you modify and share it, you must keep it open source.
no turning SnackTax into a paid “premium calorie ecosystem”.
PRs are welcome, but keep it:
- simple
- small
- dependency-free
if it adds complexity, it probably doesn’t belong.
every snack has a cost.
this just keeps the receipts.
SnackTax does not judge you.
the numbers might 👀.
