I'm Lorenzo Panieri. I've recently graduated with a Masters degree in Computer Engineering at Aarhus University in Denmark. I'm an advocate for Open Source software, enjoy recreational programming in Rust and Python and work on Digital Signal Processing projects for music production.
I use GitHub to contribute to Open Source projects, however, nowadays I keep my own Open Source projects on GitLab1, due to concerns with GitHub and Microsoft threatening the integrity of Open Source (source1, source2), and growing concerns with the centralization of all Open Source projects on one proprietary platform. I will slowly be moving my active GitHub projects to GitLab. In the meantime, you can find my old stuff here on GitHub.
I also work a lot with signal processing in Rust and I am active in the Rust-Audio community. I use my signal processing and Rust skills to develop free audio plugins for music production sofware. I make the code available for all my plugins under the "Stoejmaskiner" organization (formerly "Flux-Audio").
Some cool projects I'm actively working on:
- rust_poly: Rust crate for numeric manipulation of polynomials, find complex roots for any polynomial of any degree.
- Stoej (work in progress): A domain specific language for digital audio signal processing. A continuation of my Master's Thesis.

I'm aware that GitLab Enterprise has similar issues to GitHub, as it is proprietary and closed source. However I plan on self-hosting GitLab Community Edition in the future, when I have the financial ability to do so. There is also the fact that I'm already familiar with GitLab, but I am considering switching to Codeberg. ↩
