Controller Service Installation

The latest installation file can be obtained from the releases page: https://github.com/Valkirie/ControllerService/releases

New installation

• Download the installation file from the release page. Mind the release notes for any (breaking) changes.
• Run the HandHeldCompanion-x.x.n.exe. Administrator privileges are required.
• Click through the dialog.
• Finish installation.

To start and run the application, run HandheldCompanion.exe as an administrator. The frontend will allow you to manage the virtual controller, the service deployment and profiles. The frontend can be closed while the process remains active.

Update with existing running application

The new installation process can be run with an existing running installation with the following notes:

• If the service is currently running, the installation with note this and request to stop the process gracefully before proceeding.
• Existing profiles will remain unchanged, new profiles might be added.

Uninstall

Follow below instructions to properly remove Handheld Companion from your device.

• Stop the service. In the GUI, on the bottom left, press the "Halt Service" button.
• Delete service. In the GUI, on the bottom left, press the "Remove Service" button.
• Uninstall the application. Open "Add or remove program" through the Windows start menu, find Handheld Companion in the list of applications, select the Handheld Companion application and select "Uninstall". Follow the dialogue until completion.
