Road map for the BSB app

This document describes the current progress and future goals for the BSB mobile app.

Current progress

The app is fully usable with essential features.

The most recent step has been to extract text layout into a separate reusable package (here). This also paves the way to support highlighting.

Desired content for the full app

These are the next features in approximate priority order:

• Highlighting
• Note-taking
• Topical index
• Tabs for different open books/chapters
• Full text search
• Play chapter audio
• Playlists
• Full screen mode

Long-term goal

• Extract the UI components into a package that can be used to create other Bible apps.

Nice-to-have but optional features

• Commentaries (written and audio)
• Maps (general maps, location maps where if you click a place name in the text it will show you on a map)
• Charts (genealogy, weights and measures, etc)
• Reading plans
• Sharable verse images (Keep the app simple without unnecessary features)
