Summary of changes:

  1. The draw_image_with_gemini function now accepts an optional prompt argument, allowing users to specify what image to generate. If no prompt is provided, it defaults to 'Draw a cat in a hat.'
  2. The describe_image_with_gemini function has been updated to accept an optional data argument for the image. If no image data is supplied, it will automatically load and encode a default image.jpg from the sample directory, making the function more robust for standalone execution or testing.

Summary of Changes

Hello @MengqinShen, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request refactors the genai-image flows to significantly improve their reusability and flexibility. By introducing optional parameters and default behaviors for both image generation and description functions, the flows become more adaptable to various use cases. The accompanying simplification of the main execution logic aligns these flows with a 'pure flow server' paradigm, promoting cleaner integration and reducing reliance on specific example data within the core functions.

Highlights

  • Enhanced Flexibility for Image Generation: The draw_image_with_gemini function now accepts an optional prompt argument, allowing users to specify what image to generate. If no prompt is provided, it defaults to 'Draw a cat in a hat.'
  • Improved Image Description Functionality: The describe_image_with_gemini function has been updated to accept an optional data argument for the image. If no image data is supplied, it will automatically load and encode a default image.jpg from the sample directory, making the function more robust for standalone execution or testing.
  • Streamlined Main Execution Logic: The main function has been refactored to remove the previous hardcoded example usage for image generation and description. This change simplifies the entry point, indicating that the flows are now intended for integration into a 'pure flow server' or similar architecture, rather than being run as a self-contained script with example output.

Code Review

This pull request updates the genai-image flows to be more flexible and self-contained. The draw_image_with_gemini and describe_image_with_gemini flows now accept optional parameters and have default behaviors, which is a good improvement for usability. The main function has been simplified, which is appropriate for a flow server.

My main feedback is to add error handling for the case where the default image file is not found in describe_image_with_gemini to prevent the flow from crashing with an unhandled exception. I've provided a suggestion for this.
