If you have multiple ENIs (Elastic Network Interfaces) attached to an EC2 machine, or multiple IP addresses per ENI, Ubuntu (and possible other Linux distributions) don't automatically assign IP addresses apart from the primary IP address on eth0. This script uses the AWS metadata API to correctly bring up all ENIs and assign their IP addresses.
