DNA consist of one ore more genes. Each bacteria has it's own DNA, but it should not differ much from the population average. Longer DNA is, more traits can be embedded in and more stable population across generations.

DNA length can increase through generations, but the DNA of the first bacts given to player at the beginning of game has length of one gene.

This is a one of primary goals of the player is to maximize DNA length.
