I'm not sure what the status of this is or why it hasn't been merged, but FWIW, I want to report that the underlying problem still exists. I'm using the latest Pandoc (2.17.1.1) with the latest Whedon from this repo (obtained by cloning the master branch dated 28 Sep 2021). I get an error about ! You can't use \vadjust in vertical mode. Simply changing the parameter value 3 to 2 on line 77 of latex.template makes the problem disappear.

My apologies and thanks for your patience.

The reason that this hasn't gotten the deserved attention is that whedon is being replaced by other tools. Document creation is now done by Inara. The bug had already been fixed there.

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize Whedon wasn't being used anymore.
