I'm Brazilian, so please excuse my grammar...
(Tested only on XFCE with the bar at the top)
Something I really wanted was the ability to hide Polybar and only show it on mouseover, but I wanted the bar to hide only when a window is in fullscreen or when part of a window overlaps the bar's area. I managed to build something functional, and fortunately, it works for my needs. I feel like you might like this too.
I'll be monitoring and fixing bugs with this implementation. Cheers!
