This document summarizes the discussion about converting the AI Python IDE project into a working desktop application (.exe) and web version.
- Original code: A full-featured Tkinter-based Python IDE with AI code generation
- Developed by: Tukaram Hankare (v1.1.0)
- Features: Syntax highlighting, multi-tab editor, themes, AI prompt panel, run code, etc.
- The original Tkinter code does NOT run in PyEmulate (Skulpt) because:
import os,import tkinter,subprocess,threading,pathlib, etc. are not supported.- Skulpt is a limited JavaScript-based Python interpreter for browsers.
- Wanted to run the IDE on Android as a website
- Wanted to host it on GitHub as .html
- Later asked to convert 3 web files (.html, .css, .js) into Python and then into .exe
Instead of forcing the heavy Tkinter code to run in browser, we decided to:
→ Wrap the existing HTML + CSS + JS frontend using pywebview → Convert it into a standalone Windows .exe file
This approach:
- Keeps your original web design intact
- Creates a real desktop application
- Works offline
- Much lighter than Electron
In the same folder, you should have:
- index.html (or your main HTML file)
- styles.css (or your CSS file)
- script.js (or your JavaScript file)
- app.py ← Python wrapper (created below)
- (Optional) icon.ico
