It's an interesting thought. While I dig the homage to vim, I feel like it errs a little too close to the vim image. I dig the idea of a new logo—I'm not the greatest fan of the current one, as it's a little abstract for my tastes. But on the flip side, I feel like this ties us a little too closely to the vim identity. While we're definitely strongly inspired by vim, I would prefer Vico to maintain a separate identity. Hope that makes sense, and I'd love to hear other opinions. |

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. Keeping it as it's own identity is probably a better idea. |

Thanks so much for offering this up though! I'd be delighted if this kicked off a discussion on the logo :) |

Ok cool. Maybe I will try something else when I get another chance. |

I agree with @james2doyle -- while this is quite nice, it's too close to Vim's normal logo :) Something along those lines, but modernised would be a neat way to take it: Vico is indeed just that, Vim, but modernised! How that would work, I'm unsure. I'm no designer, but I'd say clean lines, bold contrast and colours, and a lack of outlines would be the way I'd try to tackle it (even still stealing the idea of a homage to Vim). Just my two cents $AUD! |

Sorry I didn't reply here before, it's been a crazy few weeks and I wanted to see if anyone else had any opinions—I feel like this one won't scale particularly well to smaller sizes, and seems a little too simple, if that makes sense. It feels like it would look a bit out of place in the Dock as well. |

Agreed. |

+1 for a new icon/logo. |
|
i also made a vico icon years ago lol |
|
(i don't think it should be used though) |

I was in the process of making the Vim logo as a vector and I decided to make a Vico style one.
I sampled the colours from the old icon. So things are still that same brown shade.
I realize this is a big change, so I understand any disinterest in making such a change.
